GMAT PREPARATION FOR PRE-MASTER

GMAT preparation for pre-master

After you’ve finished a hbo study (at a university of applied science), there are some options to further expand your knowledge. If you would like to participate in a Master program at a university, you first need to finish a pre-master program. Some Master or pre-Master programs also require a GMAT. In this blog we’ll tell you everything you need to know about GMAT preparations for hbo-bachelor students.

KNOW YOUR ADMISSION DATE

After finishing the GMAT exam, you can have your official score sent to five institutions of your choice automatically, for free. However, you should know that it could take up to 20 days for these institutions to receive your official score. Therefore it is important that you take admissions dates into account. This way you can plan your GMAT exam with enough time before the admission date of the pre-master you want to get into, or even with enough time to retake the GMAT exam. It is also good to know that you can only take the GMAT exam once every sixteen calendar days, five times every twelve months and up to eight times in total.

DIFFERENT GMAT STANDARDS

Unfortunately, there is no standardised required GMAT score for every pre-master program. Even within the Netherlands, different institutions maintain different GMAT standards. For example in Amsterdam, admission for a pre-master at the VU requires a GMAT score of 550, where the UvA maintains a required GMAT score of 600. So this is something you should look into before you start preparing for the GMAT exam.

YOU DON’T NEED TO BE A GENIUS TO PASS THE GMAT

One of the biggest mistakes you can make while preparing for the GMAT exam is thinking you need to be a genius to pass it. You should know that the difficulty of the GMAT is not about the question level, as the exam is a computer adaptive test. This means the questions will adapt to the level of your knowledge. The exam is not solving the hardest math questions on the planet; it’s about putting your logics and higher reasoning skills to the test. It’s actually the time pressure, combined with the length of the exam that makes the GMAT exam such a battle of endurance. We offer multiple courses to prepare you for the GMAT in the best way possible. Further information about the GMAT and GMAT preparation planning is available in our free introduction course
